WAC is for everyone! To help you celebrate King’s in a style that suits you best, we’ve compiled a list of ideas that you can either claim as your own or use as inspiration to create your own celebration!
The following event suggestions are just ideas, and nothing has been booked, planned, or organized as an official WAC event. But if you see one you like, email us and we’ll mark it as claimed and put you on the WAC event list.
Copenhagen, Denmark – Whether you’re more a fan of Aristotle or Danish countryman Tycho Brahe, you know philosophers love to look to the moon and stars every chance they get. Gather some friends and head over to the Round Tower for “Through the lens” – How to take a good photograph of the moon.
Paris, France – Fancy a walk on the Champs Elysée? The nearby Petit Palais has a permanent collection, from Greek Antiquities to French Modernities, that you can check out free of charge.
Edmonton, AB – Everyone loves a good laugh! Check out the Edmonton Comedy Festival with your fellow alumni. Why not find a restaurant or bar and grab a bite to eat first before you arrive at the show?
Peterborough, ON – Not only is October the WACkiest month, it’s the spookiest! Be a tourist in your own town and attend the Downtown Ghost Walk. The walk starts at 7 p.m., so plan accordingly and meet beforehand at the Black Horse Pub for appetizers and a drink.
St. John’s, NL- Check out a film at one of the world’s longest-running women’s film festivals. The St. John’s International Women’s Film Fest has been running for over 30 years and receives more than 400 submissions annually.
Looking to kick back and relax with a beer and BBQ? Host a game of Croquet or Bocce in your backyard for fellow alumni. BYOB of course!
In the United States:
Phoenix, Arizona – It’s hard to compete with the Arizona State Fair, so why not join in on the fun! Wear your King’s swag and meet up at the Matthew West concert, or take a group Ferris Wheel ride. Be sure you take a picture and tag us @ukings!
Portland, Maine – Take a break from your work day and head out on Portland’s new walking tour – “Bon Appetite”. This culinary walking tour! Check out old favourites, or new restaurants with your fellow alumni during this three-hour excursion. Let us know if you find a Donair that rivals the ones you used to eat from Pizza Corner.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Did you read Frankenstein in FYP? Experience it again on stage with Young Frankenstein. Gather your fellow King’s alumni and celebrate WAC with dinner and a show!
